In betting there are many specific terms that are clear only to skilled players. Here we will try to explain all basic terms.
Analyst (linemaker) - a person who makes lines in bookmaker offices.
The analyst (Capper, handicapper) - a person who cares out analysis of sports events, predicts an outcome, and does respective rates.
Underdog (outsider) - a player or team who is considered as weak in competition.
Upstreak - a series of successful bets.
Outright - a long-term bet on a victory of the concrete command in all tournaments.
Bank (capital, deposit, budget, account) - quantity of money which a player allocated for bets.
Basis - key parameters in a bet, such as chosen player (team), type of a bet and coefficient.
Stock exchange of bets - free market of bets where players define coefficient by supply and demand. Stock exchanges of bets got profit from commissions that they receive from victorious bets.
Bonus - a gift to clients by some betting shops. In different BS different conditions of bonuses.
Betting shop (BS, book, bookmaker) - a company who is engaged in reception of bets on sports (and other).
Booster - a bet, with very small coefficient (till 1.15), which sometimes included in express to once again to bet on other event (when bookmaker forbade to do more one rate)
Value Betting - strategy of bets on those events which, according to the player, the bookmaker underestimating. It is multiplication of bookmaker's coefficient to the chance, which player considers being true. The chance is in range from 0 to 1. Let's admit coefficient in BS 4.0, and the player define chance of victory as 0.5 (50 %). We multiply 4.0 by 0.5, we receive 2.0. If the result is more than 1 the bet is under strategy.
Odd - a bet that accordingly to player, necessarily will win.
The plug (arbitration situation) - association of bets in different BS, on opposite results of the same event, a prize of any can cover the loss of opposite bets. Guarantee reception of profit at any outcomes of sporting events.
Return (cancellation) - reception back the sums of a bet, in case of competition cancellation or respective result in odds.
Handicap (odds, ahead start) - a bet on advantage or backlog of a player (team) on quantity of certain indicators (goals, points, time etc.).
Downstreak - a series of lose bets.
Double outcome - bets that include simultaneously two outcomes. Examples: 1Х - a victory of a first team or a draw, Х2 - a draw or a victory of a second team, 12 - a victory of a first or a second team.
Derby (in football) - a match between irreconcilable contenders (as a rule, between teams from one town or region)
Contractual match (fix, trick) - a match with arranged and obviously known result.
Overtake (martingale) - a strategy where the bet on same events raise until the bet will win. Each rate increase to necessary amount to cover last losses and to get of small profit.
Player (client) - a person who makes bets in BS. Capper (handicapper) - a professional player.
Coefficient (factor, cf, coef, quotations) - an indicator that is used to calculate profitableness of a bet. It is represented in a form of number, which is necessary to multiply by the size of a bet to receive the size of income.
Live - bets on a course of a match. Coefficient corrects in real time, and depends on a match at present.
Line - a list of events and all variants of bets with coefficient.
Lose - loss, not productive game.
Any another - type of a bet that includes all not named in other bets results.
Margin - the profit of a bookmaker put in coefficient.
Draw game (tie, push) - an outcome when players (teams) have the same score.
Ordinary- a separate bet on one of the variants of an outcome offer by the bookmaker.
Noob - a beginner in bets that constantly make silly mistakes, work without financial and game system.
Forecast - a presumable outcome of events.
List - a list of additional outcomes in a match (for example quantity of corner kicks, penalties, yellow and red cards etc.)
System - a certain combination of several expresses that increase chances for victory and reduce the sum of loss.
Event (game, a match) - certain sporting events.
Time-Match - type of a bet where you should predict the result of the first time and the whole match.
Total (under/over) - type of a bet where you should predict total quantity of any indicator (goals, points etc.)
Exact score - type of a bet where you should predict the exact score of sporting events.
Favorite - a player or a team which is considered as strong in particular sporting event.
Flat - a financial strategy of game that means fixed size of bets.
Pure line - a line with coefficient without margin of a bookmaker.
Express (press, train) - association of several bets in one. In this case their coefficients are multiplied, but one mistake at least in one of them, all express lose.
